What’s new: Some detailed information about Locata’s over-the-air time service. As far as we know, it is unique in the level of precision (picoseconds) delivered over the air.

Why it’s important: Time/timing is needed for a host of critical infrastructure and applications. And it is the basis for RF positioning and navigation. The more precise the timing, the more you can often get from an application. For example, multiplex radios use timing for spectrum efficiency. The more precise and stable the time source, the more that can be done within a given frequency band.

What else to know:

  • Locata has a number of commercial customers, so it is not a sterile tech experiment.
  • Locata is an RNT Foundation member/ supporter. While we are prohibited from supporting our members’ business interests, we can and do re-post important informational pieces about technologies offered by members and non-members alike.
  • You will not see an intro paragraph from the article in our posting below. Our agreement with Inside GNSS is that we may only post the headline and a link to the article on their site.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don't see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it's exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn't a feature — it's the foundation everything else depends on.
